I love technology, and I love discovering new marketing apps and platforms to help me grow my business and do more in less time. But automation is not always the best solution when it comes to marketing if it compromises or waters down your brand.

In a world full of competition, your brand is what differentiates you and attracts new customers. So even though the appeal of having a 100% hands off social media strategy I urge you to consider the impact and growth you could have with a little more you in it.

Where this is coming from?

In 2017 I gained several new social media clients who had all tried pushing out content from corporate, blog generators using key search terms, and other web based companies that generate “proven” content. And they all said the same thing, the content is bland, boring, and a reach from what they do. Even worst the content wasn’t working, with very little engagement and few new followers they had felt like it was all a waste of time and money. Even as a social media newbie they knew the content was too broad, too old, and all around lacking personality and value.

I told them about my philosophy on social media content, I like to create 3 posts a week for my clients and educate and encourage them to post 2-3 times a week as well. It could be promoting an upcoming event they are attending, checking in and posting photos while networking, and those always engaging behind the scenes posts that let viewers peek into their day. Because even though social media marketing is more of an art than a science I have found this combination to be a recipe for success.

Still worried about your time?

Get a strategy. If you are already attending 1 networking event or community meeting a week, then make a post while your there – NO ADDITIONAL TIME NEEDED.

If you have community events, charity fundraisers, or causes you already support, promote, & attend personally then highlight it professionally, again – NO ADDITIONAL TIME NEEDED.

Do you have weekly meetings with your team, online training or continued education you participate in then make a post – NO ADDITIONAL TIME NEEDED.

So no matter what social media professional, app, or platform you decide to utilize in 2018 make sure you have a balance of automated/generated posts and your very own.
